Colleen’s family came to Kelowna in 1910, and began her lineage of small business in their family. Her Grandparents Vic and Anne Fowler built and operated Crossroads Supply General Store on the corner of Old Vernon Rd and Rutland Rd originally. Vic and Anne often supported the community in the war times, with charity of groceries, goodwill and friendship. Colleen’s Dad Russ Light was a CNCP Railway telegraph boy as a teenager and then opened one of the first travel agencies in Kelowna in 1956. Colleen followed in his footsteps in 1977 and spent 37 years in travel, with the last years being an owner and operator of her small business Light Travel in the Rutland area. Since 2010, Colleen has partnered with Pete, to bring her passion for small business to their Black Mountain Sunrooms, Windows & Glass. She was taught by the Old Timers, what customer service really means, and is committed to stick to that standard.
Pete is well, an artist and a creative genius. Pete grew up in the lower mainland and began working very young building windows, then being taught in the construction business. Everything from glass & aluminum, to steel studs, to the drywall industry. In the 2000’s Pete moved to Kelowna, met Colleen and they married. He supervised a local glazing shop, until they decided to move out on their own. Having spent the last 15 yrs in Kelowna with a vast experience in the sunrooms, windows, glass and aluminum business, he continues to amaze and please their customers with their wide range of needs and wants.
Pete and Colleen have old fashioned values. They honour and respect their customers and they keep their word by operating in integrity and honesty. They offer a high level of customer service and quality of workmanship. They love what they do, and they love being able to help their community. They have a heart for helping, by always giving a portion of what they earn to charitable projects, and people who are in need. They are known for going over and above in many instances. They remain Black Mountain Sunrooms, Windows & Glass where ‘Their Word is the difference!’.
